Myanmar’s brutal takeover by an uncompromising military junta had managed to remain at the fringes of awareness for a Western world weary from decades of foreign entanglements and understandably preoccupied with miraculous, pandemic-defeating vaccines — until the conflict spilled from the Asian country’s borders onto a London street last week.

Myanmar’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Kyaw Zwar Minn — an outspoken opponent of the Feb. 1 coup that toppled democratically elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi — was booted from his office on Wednesday by the country’s military in an incident he told Reuters was "kind of a coup in the middle of London."
