Amid the fallout after the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol breach and the move by some Republican lawmakers to vote against the certification of Joe Biden’s presidential election win, several deep-pocketed companies announced an end to donations to GOP-aligned political action committees – and the aftershocks may be felt nationwide in the 2022 midterm elections.
The decision to withhold funds crucial to many campaigns may pose a problem for Republicans, who are otherwise favored by many analysts to take back control of, at least the House of Representatives, if not all of Congress after the midterm vote.
