Rep. Rich McCormick to Newsmax: No Immunity for UN Workers Involved in Oct. 7

By    |   Monday, 23 September 2024 12:29 PM EDT

As the United Nations prepares for its annual General Assembly meeting, Rep. Rich McCormick, R-Ga., told Newsmax on Monday the organization continues to show anti-Israel bias.

"If you think about what the United Nations is supposed to be, rather than what it is, it is totally confused with itself," McCormick told "National Report." "You've had countries like Sudan and other horrible countries lead the way in human rights when it comes to leadership in the United Nations. They are antisemitic. They're often anti-American. They're definitely anti-Zionist."

McCormick said the United Nations has been against America for decades.

"It needs to be addressed in a very strong and decisive way," McCormick said. "We are housing them here in America. We should be exerting our force, our measure of influence, to really turn the tide, because, quite frankly, they work against us and they're corrupt.

"I saw it when I was in Rwanda in 1994 and watched them leave and not do anything. They have not been effective. Their rhetoric is anti-Israel. They need to be addressed in a very strong, stern way so that we can turn the tide of world opinion, especially when it comes to the influence of the United Nations."

The congressmen said he was furious at the thought of U.N. workers being involved in the Oct. 7 attack against Israel being given diplomatic immunity for their actions.

"This is the worst part of the United Nations," McCormick said. "Instead of looking for accountability, they're looking for a way out to excuse the horrible behavior.

"We literally fund the majority of the United Nations. To see it turned against us, to see it turn against our allies, to have people employed by the United Nations, essentially working with terrorists to invade Israel and then saying, Oh, they should have diplomatic immunity, what kind of BS is that? That is egregious. It gets me so angry. It really makes me want to defund the United Nations."
