Despite the attempts of Nikki Haley's campaign to frame her as a fresh face in the GOP, in the end, she's just a modern-day neocon, which is what the Republican party as a whole has moved away from, journalist Megyn Kelly told Newsmax.
Speaking to "Eric Bolling The Balance" ahead of the New Hampshire Republican primary on Tuesday, Kelly says that while neocons are pushing for Haley to win, "the question is: Is that enough of a constituency in order to actually get the nomination in today's Republican Party? And there's absolutely no evidence that it is."
"She's a new generation; she's right about that," Kelly adds. "She's not the same generation as Trump. But is she new, or is she very much like George W. Bush?"
"The party as a whole is Trump's party, and it became Trump's party and a MAGA party for a reason. It was a rejection of the Bush approach to foreign policy and donor classes, and so on. So I don't think she's wrong that she's a new generation. It's just of what? Yes, age and age alone. [Haley seems] to be representing the past in a lot of other ways."
Kelly went on to note she doesn't believe Haley will win New Hampshire.
