House Democrats' Congressional Black Caucus chairwoman rejects President Donald Trump making a trip to Kenosha, Wisconsin, to help soothe a reeling community after the Jacob Blake shooting that left him paralyzed.

Rep. Karen Bass, D-Calif., claims it will only "agitate" the violent protesters, she told CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday.

"I think his visit has one purpose, and one purpose only, and that is to agitate things and to make things worse," Bass told host Dana Bash.

"He only means to agitate things," she reiterated later. "He is campaigning. It's clear his campaign is all about law and order, it's a throwback to the past, and he's going to do everything to disrupt law and order in this time."

Bass refused to suggest Joe Biden should avoid Kenosha, too, instead pivoting to reject Trump campaigning amid the outbreak of violence by protesters.

"His motivation is directed in one area, and it's not to bring resolve to the situation," Bass told Bash. "It's not to look at police abuse. It's not to do any of that. It's to campaign and to agitate."

Blake, a Black man, was left paralyzed after being shot 7 times in the back by a police officer. The officer claimed Blake was lunging for a knife in his car as he was fleeing police. Officers were tazing him and calling on him to stop before the shooting occurred.
