Talk the Trump campaign is reveling in the destruction of Democrat-run cities as a boost to the re-election hopes was summarily dismissed by campaign adviser Lara Trump.
"Well, that is never something that any of us would want to see happen, absolutely not," Lara Trump, the daughter in law of the president, told "Fox News Sunday."
But she did acknowledge the rioting, looting, arson, and vandalism – which Joe Biden has been slow to rebuke because it is his voter base – looks "really bad" for his campaign.
"The more this happens to people, and the more they see that this is a mob that in effect has been supported — and it really has monetarily been supported by bailing out these violent criminals from folks in the Biden campaign — people wonder, 'why would I vote for this?
"'Why would I want to see this continue in America?' I don't think they do. And they know that President Donald Trump is the one that wants this to stop."
Host Chris Wallace mentioned the comments of outgoing White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway, who had her words twisted in the media this week, suggesting the Trump campaign considers the riots "better" for the Trump campaign.
However, a more complete clip of Conway's remarks shows she was referring to the thoughts of Biden campaign officials, like Pete Buttigieg, who see rioting in Democrat-run cities as beneficial to the Trump campaign – and not the Trump campaign officials as "rooting" for rioting as Biden suggested.
"We don't want violence in our streets; we want to keep people safe," Lara Trump told Wallace, adding the rioting "certainly paints a very clear picture" of which campaign is working against the rioting. Democrats in cities being destroyed have to request the help President Trump is offering, she reminded the spin doctors.
Lara Trump pointed to the "anarchist mob that was attacking Trump supporters" after the Republican National Convention, which did not happen after the Democratic National Convention, she noted.
Anyone who was accosted by protesters must have made up their mind to vote Trump over Biden, she added.
"If there's one person in that crowd that for a second thought, you know what, maybe I’m gonna vote for Joe Biden, maybe I'm gonna vote for the Democrats, I bet their mind was changed very quickly," she said.
