A bill to reauthorize funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program might not reach President Donald Trump until December, Axios reports.

Although most states have enough funding for the program to last the rest of the year, over two dozen will run out of money within the first quarter of 2018, and six will deplete their funds by December, according to Politico.

An unnamed congressional aide told Axios that a lack of consensus in the House and a lack of floor time in the Senate could delay the bill passing through Congress in December.

"If we get too close to the time when there is no money then we could put a lot of families in truly a state of panic," Arkansas Children’s Hospital president and CEO Marcy Doderer told local news KNWA

"Upwards of 50,000 children in the state of Arkansas will lose their health insurance which will make it more challenging for them to get things like well-child care, prescriptions, immunizations," she continued.

"This is some easy work for them to do and a win for everybody so let's get it to the top of their agenda, and get this one done" Doderer said.

"Well you can always expect that whatever Congress does if it's on the clock, we'll take it to the last hour," Rep. Steve Womack, R-Ark., added. "I think we'll find a way to make sure that children's health is protected, proper access is given in a reasonable way."
