The Biden campaign took aim at Donald Trump on Thursday, releasing a statement calling the Republican presumptive nominee a "danger to the Constitution and a threat to our democracy."
The Biden-Harris campaign email blast came in response to Trump's comments a day earlier that he would accept the 2024 election results "if everything's honest," a phrase the Democrat contenders omitted from their email.
The Biden campaign also referenced comments Trump made to Time Magazine last week, when he said political violence in November would depend "on the fairness of the election." Trump also told Time, "I don't think you'll have political violence.
"I think we're gonna have a big victory. And I think there will be no violence," Trump said.
Regardless, the Biden-Harris campaign glommed on to distilled parts of Trump's comments.
"Bottom line: Trump is a danger to the Constitution and a threat to our democracy. The American people are going to give him another electoral defeat this November because they continue to reject his extremism, his affection for violence, and his thirst for revenge," wrote campaign spokesperson James Singer.
The Trump campaign responded in a statement to Newsmax.
"The only true threat to democracy is Joe Biden as he continues to allow an invasion of our borders, his weakness is leading our country straight into World War III, and he weaponizes our justice system by using Democrat prosecutors like NY DA Alvin Bragg to put on a Communist show trial and prosecute President Trump in the middle of an election," Trump campaign National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in an email to Newsmax.
