Those attending a planned appearance by President Donald Trump in Arizona on Tuesday will be asked to wear masks.
And other steps to guard against the spread of COVID-19 during a large, indoor event in Arizona on Tuesday for President Donald Trump will be a “game-time decision,” according to ABC News.
The network news reported that about 3,000 conservative activists are expected to attend the president’s appearance at a convention for Students for Trump. The event is being held at a Phoenix megachurch.
"We are asking people to be responsible citizens, so while we won't tackle people in the pews if they aren't wearing (masks), we will be asking folks to be respectful of local ordinances and rules," Andrew Kolvet, a spokesman for the Students for Trump convention, told ABC News.
AZ Central reported that a convention official said that those attending will comply with the Phoenix city ordinance passed last week requiring masks in crowded places.
Meanwhile, social distancing and a limit on the number of people allowed into the closed space, will be a "game-time decision," Kolvet said.
ABC News pointed out the trip is the second time in less than a week Trump will travel to a state fighting a spike in COVID-19 cases. The president also is making several stops in Yuma, Arizona. His appearance at the convention is not officially part of his reelection campaign.
Campaign officials are still assessing the fallout from the low turnout in Tulsa, Oklahoma amid concerns about COVID-19.
