On Thursday, reports began emerging from the Vatican that Cardinal Donald Wuerl, embattled Roman Catholic archbishop of Washington DC, will soon encourage Pope Francis to accept his resignation.
No sooner had those reports surfaced than sources in the Archdiocese of Washington D.C. told Newsmax they expect Francis to “immediately” accept the resignation Wuerl submitted when he reached the Church’s retirement age of 75 in 2015 (the same day that Wuerl was interviewed by Newsmax TV and told viewers the Pope had declined to accept his resignation).
