Just two years after vying to be the Democrat presidential nominee, former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard officially left the party to become an independent, formalizing a breakup that had long been in the making.
Gabbard, who was known as a moderate Democrat from Hawaii during her four terms in the House, shared her decision to quit the party in a series of tweets and a video on Tuesday.
