Psychologists warn the recent rat-tat-tat of mass shootings in the United States may have a far-reaching emotional and cultural impact, and could alter the very fabric of life in America.

The blaze of gunfire that sent six Philadelphia officers to the hospital last Wednesday month marked the fourth such incident in just 18 days. Along with attacks in El Paso, Dayton, and Gilroy, Calif., the stunning wave of violence accounted for 36 killed and 60 wounded.
