Michigan recently joined a parade of other states in expanding its civil rights law to prohibit businesses and organizations from discriminating based on sexual preference and gender identity.
But the Great Lakes State failed to make an important accommodation when expanding the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, according to William Haun, senior counsel at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit law firm dedicated to protecting First Amendment rights.
