Chelsea Clinton had never seen her mother so tired as she was Sunday when she came to her apartment after suffering from a medical episode.
"I didn't see the video, but my mom did come over to my apartment afterward, and I was just so grateful I got a chance to take care of her for a little while," the younger Clinton told Time Warner Cable News in Raleigh, N.C. "She has taken care of me my whole life.
"She's just indefatigable. I don't think I've ever seen her so tired. She was tired because she has pneumonia and that's miserable. I've had pneumonia twice. I didn't even know she had pneumonia until she came over to my apartment."
Hillary Clinton left a Sept. 11 memorial ceremony early because she wasn't feeling well. A bystander captured her on video leaning up against a concrete post, with help from an aide and a Secret Service agent, as she waited for her van.
Clinton needed assistance getting into the vehicle and pitched forward as she stepped off the curb. A campaign aide reportedly told the Secret Service to divert from the hospital and instead drive the Democratic presidential nominee to her daughter's nearby apartment. It was later revealed she had pneumonia.
"I think the fact she didn't even tell me [about having pneumonia] — and I talk to my mom every day and am fiercely close to her — pretty much reveals she didn't think it was a big deal and she could keep going," Chelsea Clinton told the news station.
"But even though she is a superwoman, she's still human, so I'm glad she finally listened to her doctor and took a few days off. I know she's excited to get back on the campaign trail [Thursday]."
Hillary Clinton will campaign in Greensboro, N.C. on Thursday.
