Someone gained access to a virtual geometry classroom at a San Antonio high school and started sharing racist and sexual content with the students, Newsweek reported on Monday.

The Zoom bomber used the name of one of the students enrolled in the class at MacArthur High School to access the remote classroom and put up pictures of two individuals dressed in Ku Klux Klan hoods rather than the student's real photo, according to 13NewsNow.

The intruder managed to share illicit content on the site for about 40 minutes before it was noticed by one of the parents, but the person sharing the content departed the virtual meeting room before school officials could throw him out.

MacArthur High School principal Peter Martinez sent a letter to parents to inform them of the incident and that officials were investigating how it happened, 13NewsNow reported.

"We take this very seriously and do not tolerate this type of behavior," Martinez wrote. "If the person responsible is a student, they will face serious disciplinary consequences. If it is not a student, we are working to find out who it is."

Many schools nationwide are using Zoom and other similar platforms as part of reopening the school year virtually, according to Newsweek.

As part of the preparations, Zoom offered tips for security and engagement when it guided teachers on hosting remote class meetings on its blog.
