Gun activists should take a page from Rosa Parks' playbook and vow to stay firm in their convictions, conservative rocker Ted Nugent wrote in a Wednesday column.
"In 1955, my hero, Rosa Parks, refused to give up her seat on a city bus. Good for her," Nugent wrote in
an op-ed on WorldNet Daily on Wednesday.
"In 2014, gun owners must learn from Rosa Parks and definitely refuse to give up our guns," he added. "As Rosa Parks once said, 'You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.'"
In April 2013, Connecticut
passed a bill banning the sale of certain assault rifles in the state, and requiring gun owners to register their firearms by the end of 2013. But the Hartford Courant
reported in February that possibly as little as 15 percent of the assault weapons in the Constitution State were registered by the end of 2013. Unregistered assault rifles are now considered illegal in the state.
Connecticut gun activists are fighting against the measure. Nugent has called the law the 'Invasion of the gun snatchers' and says that it will not solve the crime problem, as intended.
"Regardless what our gun-snatching Fedzillacrats claim, banning so-called 'assault weapons' will not reduce crime rates and will not make you any safer," the conservative rocker wrote. "What will make you much safer is returning these Fedzillacrats who are drunk on power and control to the unemployment lines this November."
