Wisconsin Democrats roared with laughter over the weekend as they listened to how "House of Cards" could be recast with a cast of buffoons playing the real-life Republicans who are or may be running for president.
And there's no question that Wisconsin State Rep. Mark Pocan's bizarre reimagining of the smash Netflix series about political revenge bordered on bad taste.
According to The Weekly Standard, Pocan played casting director as he addressed the Wisconsin Democratic state party convention and said the upcoming battle for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination is "going to be so entertaining."
"I heard that Netflix is going to create a 'House of Cards' special series just on the 2016 primary. It’s going to be called 'House of Cards: Jokers Gone Wild,"' Pocan told the audience, according to the Standard.
"Now, I’ve actually been leaked a casting presentation from the producers that I could share with you tonight if you’d like to see it, would you like that?"
Not surprisingly, yes, they did!
"All right, lets, if we could, our first one, Kevin from 'The Office' as Gov. Mike Huckabee. Next, Will Ferrell from 'The Campaign' as Gov. Rick Perry. But now, don’t forget, you got to put glasses on him because now he’s smart," Pocan began.
"Next, Grandpa Munster as Sen. Ted Cruz. That is really, really scarily eerily similar. Ricky Ricardo from 'I Love Lucy' as Sen. Marco Rubio. Cruella de Vil [from '101 Dalmatians'] as Carly Fiorina. Will Ferrell, in a second role, as Sen. Paul Rand.
All right, George W. Bush as Gov. Jeb Bush. Alfred E. Neuman [of 'Mad' magazine] as Sen. Lindsey Graham. Oh, now, that’s not nice!"
Finishing off his list, Pocan continued with a fat joke:
"Jabba the Hutt as Gov. Chris Christie, who put that in there, that’s just not nice.
Kenneth the Page from "30 Rock" as Gov. Bobby Jindal, and finally a pair of flip-flops as Gov. Scott Walker."
The real "House of Cards" stars Kevin Spacey as a South Carolina Democrat who, with his wife, seeks revenge when he's passed over for appointment as secretary of state.
