Brother to Critics of Christie's Cowboys Fandom: 'Get a Life'

New Jersey's Republican Gov. Chris Christie isn't about to apologize for being a rabid Dallas Cowboys fan — and neither is his brother Todd.

After Christie came under Tweet-fire from some Internet angry birds over photos of him hugging Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Jan. 4 in the owner's box at AT&T Stadium in Texas after the Cowboys squeaked by the Detroit Lions, 24-20, his brother Todd struck back with an in-your-Facebook post, saying: "To all of those non-Cowboy fans who have their panties in a ringer because the Governor of NJ is a Cowboys fan — GET A LIFE !!!"

Todd Christie added: "The Gov has been a Cowboys fan for his entire life and ALL of you would sit with the owner of your favorite team in a heartbeat if given the chance.

"I'm a Giants fan — we are sitting home for the fourth straight year. Eagles fans — possibly you should worry more about the fact that your sorry team has never won a Super Bowl and less about who's rooting for which team.

"I mean crazy pathetic posts. And for every calorically challenged FB person who posts about the Gov's weight--forget the magic mirror and look at yourself. Weight posts---really?"

The governor also took exception to the criticism on WFAN’s "Boomer & Carton" show, saying: "We all know what this is about, and that’s fine. Believe me, I would take all the abuse that I’m taking from some of these folks in return for Cowboys playoff wins.

"As a fan, that’s what it’s all about. Just because I’m governor of New Jersey doesn’t mean that I change who I root for — that’s it."

Christie even explained that he was wearing his orange sweater at the game, which he wore during his first Cowboys game this year, because, "as it turns out, there are some people in my universe who believe that (the sweater) then becomes a good-luck thing."

Christie, a New York Rangers fan in hockey and a New York Mets fan in baseball, defended his deviation from backing East Coast teams when it comes to football.

"What makes make me laugh about some of the people who get really upset about this, you know, we haven't had a heck of a lot of success for a long time as Cowboys fans, so what be angry at me for?

"There’s nobody yelling at me when we’re losing to the Giants on the last game of the season to miss the playoffs, then losing to the Redskins on the last game of the season. And nobody was yelling at me when Kyle Orton threw that awful interception last year to lose to the Eagles at home on the last game of the year," he told Boomer & Carton.

"So I’m not listening to any of these people who are giving me a hard time now that we’re having a little bit of success."
