Actress Pauley Perrette hinted at assaults against her and a "powerful publicity machine" that has kept her from talking about why she was leaving CBS's popular "NCIS" after 15 seasons in a series of weekend Twitter posts.
Perrette, 49, who played the popular character forensic specialist Abby Sciuto on the show since its inception, posted the four tweets after her final episode on the series aired last Tuesday, USA Today noted.
Steve Jaffe, Perrette's publicist, confirmed that the actress made the tweets but would have no additional comments, the newspaper said. Perrette touched on bullying, "multiple assaults," and reportedly false tabloid articles about her in the tweets.
CBS has not commented on Perrette's tweets so far, USA Today reported. Perrette announced plans to leave "NCIS" last October.
The Huffington Post wrote that Perrette has made other charges of physical attacks and sexual assaults in the past, the HuffPost said. She wrote about being attacked by a homeless man, who threatened to kill her in 2015, the website said.
She said last year that she was raped in high school by a football player, leading to an "abusive relationship," the HuffPost wrote. She added that she allowed herself "to be bullied by a powerful man for way too long in a work environment until I finally said enough and took no more words from anyone, including myself that being complacent was 'good behavior,'" the website wrote.
