Pauley Perrette, you know, Abby, is leaving “NCIS,” she announced, just like Cote de Pablo and all those other beloved agents who have departed over the years.
The actress, who has played the role of quirky lab extraordinaire Abby Sciuto in the CBS production for 15 seasons, confirmed the news Wednesday on social media.
“It is true that I am leaving ‘NCIS’ after this season,” she posted in a statement to Twitter, adding there had been numerous false rumors about why she was departing the series.
“NO I DON'T HAVE A SKIN CARE LINE AND NO MY NETWORK AND SHOW ARE NOT MAD AT ME,” she continued.
“It was a decision made last year. I hope everyone will love and enjoy everything Abby not only for the rest of this season, but for everything she has given all of us for 16 years.”
Perrette joins a long list of 'NCIS' cast changes and will be welcome in the hallowed group of NCIS personas somehow kept separate by viewers from the rest of the mushrooming NCIS franchise.
She is one of only three remaining original 'NCIS' cast members, TV Line noted, which includes Mark Harmon and David McCallum.
Fans were left in mourning when Cote de Pablo, who played the popular character Ziva David for eight years, parted ways with the show in an emotional send off for season 11, which had her presumed dead.
Then Michael Weatherly said goodbye to “NCIS” after 13 seasons with a dramatic, bittersweet send-off for his character, Special Agent Tony DiNozzo, E Online reported.
Weatherly’s character exited the show on high emotions when he chose to father the daughter he had with the lost love of his life, de Pablo.
Fans had barely recovered from the Abby shocker when news broke that Jennifer Esposito, who played Special Agent Alexandra “Alex” Quinn, would not appear in season 15 of “NCIS.”
Deadline noted how the actress had only appeared in the series for one season but had viewers reeling after featuring in a dramatic season finale cliff-hanger.
