Actor Jodie Turner-Smith is alleging that her ex-husband, "Dawson's Creek" star Joshua Jackson, has failed to provide child support and spousal support since their divorce became public.
In documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Turner-Smith, 38, claims Jackson, 46, has not paid any child support for their 4-year-old daughter Juno since October 2023, when they separated, People reported.
Turner-Smith is requesting $8,543 per month in retroactive child support and $28,641 per month in spousal support from Jackson, both dating back to October 2023. She is also seeking $250,000 in legal fees, including attorney and forensic accountant costs.
In court documents, Turner-Smith claims that after their marriage, she took on a greater role in caring for their daughter while Jackson "continued to advance in his acting career." She argues that, despite Jackson's 30-year acting career, she is still working to establish herself in the industry, and that Jackson has always earned significantly more.
Turner-Smith also accuses Jackson of running up her legal fees as he sought sole legal custody of their daughter, Juno.
"Josh promised to always support me and ensured me that I would not have to worry about financial security for our daughter if we ever separated because he said he understood how difficult life can be as a Black woman and a single mother," Turner-Smith alleges in the documents. She expressed a desire to purchase a home in Los Angeles and support her daughter, further stating that Jackson is now "reneging" on his promise.
Turner-Smith previously spoke about co-parenting with Jackson, telling Glamour in October that it can get "complicated."
"It's an adjustment period for anyone when they split up with someone because you're used to being with your child all the time," she said. "But nobody hands you a manual. Everyone's trying to figure it out."
Turner-Smith added, "Each parent has a different life, and especially if the reason why you're splitting up is because you have different lives, it's only further complicated by how you're going to co-parent."
The interview came shortly after news emerged that she had filed for divorce from Jackson.
