As President Donald Trump gets set to mark his first year in office, just 32 percent of Americans approve of his job performance, while 55 percent disapprove, a new USC-Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll reveals.
Here are highlights from the survey:
- 27 percent of those living in the Northeast approve of his job performance, compared to 59 percent who disapprove
- 37 percent of those in the Midwest approve, while 47 percent disapprove
- 32 percent of those in the South approve, compared to 54 who disapprove
- 30 percent of those in the West approve, while 60 percent do not
- 75 percent of Republicans approve of Trump’s job performance, compared to 16 percent who disapprove
- 5 percent of Democrats approve, while 86 percent do not
- 24 percent of independents approve, compared to 55, who do not
- 51 percent of all those polled said they would favor Democrats if congressional elections were being held today, compared to 40 percent who supported Republicans
The poll, conducted Dec. 15-Jan. 15, sampled 3,862 people. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
The poll previously forecasted a Trump victory in 2016.
