While Democrats were continuing to "push the Russia hoax" on the American people, China is the "real problem here," Rep. Devin Nunes said Thursday.
"Yes, Russia has a great intelligence service, they have a powerful military, they have their nuclear power, they have a great history," the California Republican said on Fox Business' "Mornings With Maria." "But the Chinese, while we sleep, continue to undermine every asset of the global economy, even the U.S. economy."
Nunes, the ranking party member on the House Intelligence Committee, said efforts are continuing to investigate the Chinese and said that after the committee started examining the telecommunications giant Huawei and its putting in connections worldwide, it appears that the Chinese have devised a systemic plan.
The plan, he said, is to "recruit Americans to bring Chinese students over to the United States" who are connected with the Chinese Communist Party, so House Republicans have legislation to stop their visas.
"We have students around the globe that are just as smart, including students here in the United States, that need to take positions . . . we need to make sure that they are not being taken by somebody who ultimately is going to go back to work for the Chinese Communist Party. If you have a business, you work for the Chinese Communist Party. It's very, very simple, a top-down run system."
Meanwhile, it is good from U.S. Attorney John Durham's investigation into the Russia origins investigation, said Nunes, but he does believe that it's important to get the report out so that Americans will hear the truth before the election.
"I believe (Joe) Biden made a reference about Trump carrying Putin's water," he said. "Sick, sick people sick in the head. They poisoned millions of Americans."
