Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden has surpassed President Donald Trump in the amount of engagements he receives per Twitter post, according to new data from media intelligence company Conviva, Axios reported on Tuesday.
Since the beginning of the year, Biden has been steadily increasing his monthly averages of engagements per post, average engagements per video, and follower adds. This past month, he managed to pass Trump in all three metrics.
In addition, Biden is also narrowing the margin on social media engagement on news stories about the candidates, according to NewsWhip. Although stories about Trump generated 28 million more interactions last week, that gap was the smallest of the election campaign.
This is on top of Biden’s better ratings in the competing town halls they held at the same time on television last week.
However, Trump still has a commanding lead in follower counts on social media, with more than 141 million on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube combined. Biden has less than 20 million across the same platforms.
