President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence on Friday endorsed Ohio state Sen. Troy Balderson in next month's special U.S. House election.
"Troy is strong on crime and borders, loves our military, our vets and our Second Amendment," Trump said on Twitter. "He has my full and total endorsement."
Pence, who will be stumping for Balderson on Monday, retweeted Trump's post, adding: "He'll be a fighter for President Trump's agenda that's got our economy roaring."
Pence also campaigned for Balderson, 56, last month.
He is battling Democratic Franklin County Recorder Danny O'Connor in the Aug. 7 special election for the seat vacated by Republican Rep. Pat Tiberi, who left Congress in January to head the Ohio Business Roundtable.
Trump won the district by 11 points in 2016.
Balderson took the bitterly divided special Republican primary in May by just a point, or fewer than 700 votes.
National Republicans are now increasing support after the primary.
