President Donald Trump on Monday mocked Chris Cuomo in reference to a clash the CNN host had with Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, over a whistleblower report alleging the president pressured Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden’s family to help Trump win re-election, Mediaite reports.
“I don’t watch CNN because it is fake news,” Trump said during a bilateral meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the United Nations.
“But I watched Rudy take apart Fredo. Fredo’s performance was incompetent. The press doesn’t give him credit, because they take little tiny snippets wherever Rudy was a little bit – if he mispronounces a word they’ll show that, they won’t show the whole. Rudy Giuliani took Fredo to the cleaners.”
“First time I watched CNN in a long time,” Trump insisted. “I hate to watch because it’s so fake.”
Fredo is the weak-minded and suggestible brother of Michael Corleone in the movie, “Godfather.”
Trump drew the insult from a heckler earlier this month who called Cuomo “Fredo” in front of his family, a disparaging comparison to his older brother, Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Cuomo, who hosts Cuomo Prime Time,” told the man that the “Godfather” reference was a racial slur “like the ‘N-word'” for Italian Americans, called him “a punk-ass bitch” and told him, “I’ll f–king ruin your s – t. I’ll f–king throw you down these stairs.”
