President Donald Trump repeatedly asked Republican lawmakers at their retreat Thursday where was former Kansas Rep. Mike Pompeo, who was sworn in Monday as CIA director.
"Mike Pompeo, is Mike here?" Trump asked during his speech to lawmakers at the Loews Hotel, The Hill reports. "Mike?
"Mike Pompeo, phenomenal guy," the president said.
The retreat, which ends on Friday, is only for current GOP lawmakers.
Pompeo, 53, who served four terms in the House, was confirmed by the Senate on Monday and sworn in shortly thereafter by Vice President Mike Pence.
"We have so many different people that we are putting in office, I think it's the group of all-stars like really, nobody has seen before, right?" Trump said, referring to other members of his Cabinet.
"Where is — where is Pompeo?" Trump then asked again. "Where the hell is he? Did he ever come here?"
Republicans shouted in response: "He's at work!"
"He's gonna be another one of the big stars," Trump said, according to the Hill. "I have to mention him every single time."
