President Donald Trump's approval rating among Black voters rose but his overall approval slumped during the Republican National Convention, a new poll showed Friday.
The HarrisX survey conducted for The Hill showed Trump gained 9 percentaage points among Black voters compared with a previous poll two weeks ago, rising from 15% to 24%. His approval rating among Hispanic voters rose from 30% to 32%.
He lost the same amount of support among with white voters, going from 54% to 52%.
The president's overall approval rating dropped slightly from 45% to 44%.
The poll found 58% of both urban and suburban voters disapproved of Trump. Trump had an edge among rural voters, with 53% approving.
In other findings, the poll showed:
- Trump had an 82% approval rating among Republicans, 13% among Democrats, and 42% among independents.
- Men were equally split at 50% on approval of Trump’s job performance; 61% of women disapprove and 39% approve.
- Every age group disapproved of Trump except for the 35-49 demographic, which approved 51%-49% — down from its earlier 53% approval.
The poll was conducted during the first two days of the Republican convention. It has a margin of error of 1.83 percentage points.
