Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez said Tuesday the "rot" in the Trump campaign traveled to the top and that he expects the Russia probe to result in more charges.

The Hill reported that Perez spoke with reporters at a breakfast Tuesday morning and addressed Monday's developments in the Russia investigation. Three members of Trump's campaign, including one-time chairman Paul Manafort, have been indicted on federal charges.

"It's clear the Russians were trying to traffic in the emails and present them to the Trump campaign to help get him elected," Perez said. "You see with the indictments of Manafort and [business associate Rick] Gates that the rot went all the way to the top of the campaign.

"It's clear the investigation will continue. It's not the end of the criminal charges moving forward."

Manafort and Gates were indicted Monday. It also was also reported that George Papadopoulos, an unpaid foreign policy adviser on the Trump campaign, was indicted Oct. 5 for lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russians. Several questions remain regarding what role Papadopoulos may have played in the Department of Justice's investigation that's being led by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Perez has been traveling the country giving speeches in recent months as he tries to heal the Democratic Party after Hillary Clinton's loss in the presidential election. Last week, he falsely told law students at Indiana University that the Electoral College is not a product of the Constitution.
