Tom Fitton: Gorsuch Moves SCOTUS Away From 'Destructive Judicial Activism'

Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton praised President Donald Trump's selection of Judge Neil Gorsuch for the open seat on the Supreme Court.

"President Trump's nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court is a major step in the right direction in defining his presidency and moving the Supreme Court away from dangerous and destructive judicial activism," Fitton said in a press release on Tuesday. 

"It is good to see the President nominate someone who will follow the rule of law rather than legislate from the bench," Fitton's statement said.

On Friday, Fitton told Newsweek that Gorsuch would be a good fit to fill the seat of the late Justice Antonin Scalia.

"I think it's fair to say he's a leader in terms of conservative jurisprudence and I think he quickly would become a strong voice on the court for the constitutional approach to decision making," Fitton said in the interview.

The Judicial Watch president also praised Gorsuch in a tweet.
