Incoming White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci's blue-streaked tirade against Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon was triggered by a false assumption, New Yorker writer Ryan Lizza said.
Talking on CNN's "The Situation Room," about his explosive story posted in the New Yorker, Lizza refuted Scaramucci's belief Priebus was the one who leaked information about Scaramucci's dinner with Fox News' Sean Hannity and President Donald Trump.
Scaramucci's profanity-laced rant followed his condemnation of Priebus for leaking the dinner appointment.
"Reince Priebus did not leak that information," Lizza told Wolf Blitzer.
And of the public feud between Trump's top aides, Lizza added: "I don't see how a White House can function with this kind of civil war. It's unlike anything I've seen."
