Massachusetts Republican Sen. Scott Brown may have a tough time getting re-elected next year, but if so, it apparently won’t be for lack of funds. He plans to report raising $1.98 million during the second quarter, according to
The Boston Globe.
That left him with $9.6 million of cash on hand. His second-quarter intake vastly exceeds anything that Brown’s potential 2012 Democratic challengers have reported. City Year co-founder Alan Khazei said Tuesday that he garnered $920,000 in the second quarter. His staff declined to reveal how much cash he has on hand. Newton Mayor Setti Warren reported raising $123,000.
As for Brown, “People are responding to his pro-jobs message and his leadership in controlling spending and reducing debt,” said his finance director, John Cook.
