MSNBC anchor Joe Scarborough on Tuesday ripped the Iowa Democratic Party for its handling of the statees Democratic caucuses the night before, questioning if the problems were due to "pure incompetence" on "Morning Joe."
The party said in a statement on Tuesday that the app used to handle the data from the caucuses experienced a "coding issue" that caused the delay.
"We have determined that this was due to a coding issue in the reporting system. This issue was identified and fixed," the statement read, according to Politico. "The application's reporting issue did not impact the ability of precinct chairs to report data accurately."
"What is wrong with the Iowa Democratic Party?" Scarborough said Tuesday morning. "Again, this is a party who botched the call four years ago, rushed it when the media was shocked that they would be so transparent, and now they get on the phone for 74 seconds? The world's watching this, we're not being melodramatic."
He added, "For a year and a half, American politics has been focused on this moment, and the Democratic Party has a crappy app and say, well, nothing happened to the app. Then you hear reports something did happen to the app. Was there election interference? Did somebody try to hack into the app? Was it just pure incompetence?"
