House Speaker Paul Ryan on Thursday said "drama is not helpful" but that it won't deter Republicans from getting tax reform done in this calendar year, The Washington Post reported.
"Drama is not helpful in getting things done,” Ryan said at his news conference. "But we're still getting things done. … I feel very comfortable we'll meet this goal" of tax reform.
Ryan took head-on questions about the evolving scandals coming out of the White House but said it won't distract Republicans from "doing our jobs."
"It's always nice to have less drama," Ryan said. "I realize there's a lot in the media these days. That doesn't seize up Congress."
Ryan also "it was perfectly appropriate" for the Justice Department to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Russia's interference in the election, one day after saying he didn't think it was necessary to do so.
