Regardless of whether he's tapped to be secretary of state, Mitt Romney has already been a useful engine to President-elect Donald Trump and his transition, per Washington Examiner's analysis.
For those who thought President Trump would just surround himself with a "circus" of early adopters — Sarah Palin, Rudy Giuliani, Chris Christie — the consideration of Romney, who publicly crucified Trump early and often, shows a magnanimous Trump who "maybe knows what he's doing after all," the Examiner notes.
Further, the additions of Cabinet choices Tom Price, Elaine Chao and Jeff Sessions assuage and reassure conservatives.
"The worst case scenario under Trump is George W. Bush with a better immigration policy," a conservative activist told the Examiner.
