Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., has charged House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes with refusing to reveal whether his staff worked with the White House on the Republican memo that alleges FBI misconduct against President Donald Trump in the Russia investigation.

Schiff, ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, said that refusal makes him suspicious that "the White House may have had a role in the planning of the memo," the Washington Examiner reports.

In transcripts of committee hearings that were released on Friday, Nunes does not tell Rep. Mike Quigley, an Illinois Democrat, whether the White House had a hand in the memo.

"When you, as the majority, conceived of doing this memo for the release to the body and to the public, the preparation, the thought of doing it, the consultation of it, was any of this done after/during conversations or consultations with anyone in the White House?" Quigley asked Nunes.

Nunes said he "would just answer, as far as I know, no."

"Does that mean none of the staff members that worked for the majority had any consultation at all with the White House?" Quigley continued.

Nunes answered: "The chair is not going to entertain a question by another member."

Meanwhile, Trump said on Friday the White House would soon release a letter regarding a classified document written by Democrats to refute the GOP memo.
