Hillary Clinton has widened her lead in the battleground state of Ohio and has managed a dead heat in Iowa, as a unified Democratic party is trumping her Republican counterpart in two key states, according to the CBS News Battleground Tracker poll.
Clinton leads Trump by six points in Ohio (46 percent to 40) after being up four points in July, thanks in large part to carrying 90 percent of the Democratic vote compared to Trump’s 79 percent of Republicans, according to CBS News’ Anthony Salvanto.
The numbers in Iowa are split evenly between the two major party candidates, each holding 40 percent of the vote, but that is a telling sign Trump is failing to hold his own among his Republican party, because Iowa famously has an older voting base. Trump held a 40 percent to 39 lead in Iowa in July, according to the poll.
