White House: Obama Can Kiss Indiana Goodbye

Tuesday, 23 November 2010 01:40 PM EST

Indiana, a key state in President Barack Obama’s 2008 election victory, is highly unlikely to go his way in 2012. White House officials told The Hill last week that they don’t think he has a chance there.

obama,indiana,2012,vote,white,house,pence,gop“Even if one of the Hoosier State’s two potential Republican presidential candidates — Gov. Mitch Daniels and Rep. Mike Pence — isn’t on the ticket, Obama faces a tough road, as Indiana joined much of the rest of the nation in returning to its red roots in the midterm,” the news service reports.

Republicans now occupy both of the state’s Senate seats, six of its nine congressional seats, the governor’s office and both houses of the State Legislature. Obama was the first Democrat to win Indiana since 1964 and may be the last for a very long time.
