With President Barack Obama’s approval rating hovering around a paltry 40 percent, he represents low-hanging fruit for Republican political campaigns. And the National Republican Congressional Committee is using that dynamic in Nevada,
Politico reports.
The committee has spent more than $400,000 on television ads in Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District, home to a Sept. 13 election, showing Obama with his arm around Democratic candidate Kate Marshall. Republican candidate Mark Amodei also has used the photo in direct mail letters, writing that Obama “already embraced a tax increase . . . now he’s embracing Kate Marshall.”
In another TV spot that aired before the debt ceiling/deficit agreement this month, Amodei promised he wouldn’t vote to increase “the Obama debt limit.”
