Haley Hails Trump's Pick of Pompeo as a 'Great Decision'

U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley on Tuesday praised the "great decision" by President Donald Trump to make Mike Pompeo the new secretary of state.

The president earlier Tuesday announced that he had removed Rex Tillerson in favor of Pompeo, a move that had been speculated about for a few months.

Haley, too, had been rumored as a possible successor to Tillerson during the turbulence between the former Exxon Mobil executive and the president.

"I have said for months that I am not interested in the secretary of state position and it's because I know that I am valuable here at the United Nations," Haley said in December.

She took a similar stand in September.
