Voters in a New Jersey municipality voted out of office their mayor who peddled conspiracy theories about the Parkland High School massacre, NJ Advance Media reported.
Voters in Newtown, New Jersey, denied Wayne Levante a second term on town council, two months after he refused to resign even after being censured by his peers.
Levante said he wanted the voters to decide; they did. Levante finished fourth Tuesday in a seven-candidate race for three seats.
The position of mayor is rotated between the council members for one-year terms. Levante's four-year term as councilman is up June 30, NJAM reported.
Levante shared and defended theories about "crisis actors" playing the role of students in the aftermath of the Valentine's Day massacre in Parkland, Florida, that took the lives of 17 students and staff.
