Monmouth Poll: Biden Holds 3-Point Lead Over Trump

Forty-eight percent of registered voters favor former Vice President Joe Biden in the race for president, while 45% back President Donald Trump, according to a new Monmouth University poll.

Here are the highlights from the poll released Tuesday:

• 56% of those under 35 years old back Biden, compared to 34% who support the president.
• 53% of voters between 35 and 54 favor Trump, while 40% back Biden.
• 50% of those of those 55 and older back Biden, compared to 46% who support Trump.
• 43% have a favorable view of Biden, compared to 43% who do not.
• 46% have a favorable impression of Trump, while 49% do not.

The poll, conducted March 18-22, surveyed 851 adults nationwide. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.
