Vice Presidential candidate Mike Pence had the perfect response to a military mom whose pointed question drew boos and scorn from the Carson City crowd Monday night in Nevada.
"That's what freedom looks like, and that's what freedom sounds like," Pence said, according to Politico, quieting the crowd.
Pence would then address the question itself from Catherine Byrne, according to Politico, which was: "How do you tolerate this disrespect" from Donald Trump toward the country's military members?
"I have never been around someone more devoted to the armed forces of this country," Pence said of Trump, according to Politico. There is "no one more devoted to the veterans in this country."
The question from Byrne and the crowd's reaction to it was the latest volley in a public spat between Trump and Khizr Khan that started last week at the Democratic National Convention. Khan, the father of a son who was killed in action, gave a scathing condemnation of Trump, who didn't let the slight pass.
"Capt. Khan is an American hero and we honor him and honor his family," he said. "The story of Capt. Khan is an incredibly inspiring story," Pence would go on to say at the Carson City rally, Politico reported.
