Move over Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C. There’s another conservative kingmaker in this town, and he’s freshman Utah Sen. Mike Lee, Politico reports. Lee has joined DeMint as a must-see for GOP candidates looking for approval from the grass-roots conservative/tea party movement, Politico reports.

Lee is now a clear No. 2 to DeMint in that regard, the news service states. He already has greeted more than five congressional hopefuls, given his support for candidates in two Senate primaries, and formed two leadership political action committees to back those who share his views.

Moreover, Lee says he’s just getting started. “We ought to have more people who believe in constitutionally limited government,” Lee told Politico.

“We have to have more people come to Congress with that mindset. I think we can make this a better place, if, when elections happen, we support candidates who share that philosophy,” Lee added.
