Mike Barnicle: Trump's Comments a 'Disqualifier' For Presidency

Donald Trump's comments on President Barack Obama and the weekend terror attacks are "basically a disqualifier" for his bid for the presidency, political commentator Mike Barnicle said Tuesday morning.

"What he said on TV early in the morning is basically a disqualifier to be president of the United States, because he accused the sitting president of the United States, Barack Obama, of a treasonous act," Barnicle said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program, where he is a frequent panelist.

Monday morning, one day after 49 people in a gay nightclub in Orlando were murdered in the nation's deadliest mass shooting, Trump told Fox News' "Fox and Friends:"

"We're led by a man that either is not tough, not smart, or he's got something else in mind. And the something else in mind, you know, people can't believe it. People cannot believe, they cannot believe that President Obama is acting the way he acts and he can't even mention the words 'radical Islamic terrorism.' There's something going on. It's inconceivable. There's something going on."

"Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough said that such comments reminded him "when a lot of
scumbags said that [President] George W. Bush had something to do with 9/11. But to have those on the internet, to have the standard bearer, [House Speaker] Paul Ryan's candidate, [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell's candidate, saying that [President] Barack Obama may have been complicit in the killings of Americans is beyond breathtaking."
