Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.), facing a tough battle against GOP rival Indiana state Treasurer Richard Mourdock, has a new ad attacking his rival of being beholden to outside interests.
The new ad accused Mourdock of selling out to "D.C. outsiders." Lugar, who has held his Senate seat since 1977, is one of several Republican incumbents targeted by the Tea Party in this year's primary contests.
The ad features ordinary Indiana voters asking just how much Mourdock will be beholden to outside interests.
"If he were senator, heaven help us, because Mourdock won't," says one woman in the ad.

The Howey/DePauw Indiana Battleground Poll has Lugar leading Mourdock 45 to 37 percent. The poll, released last week, makes the race a toss-up.
Mourdock said he was amused by the ad.
"It's amusing that he's been in D.C. 36 years and he's trying to portray me as a D.C. insider. That's ironic, to put it mildly," he told The Hill. Lugar's challengers have made his residency a campaign issue. Lugar owns a home in Virginia
