A House manager in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump criticized him for a seemingly threatening tweet targeting Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif. — advising Trump act “more presidential.”
In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union," Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., said Trump needs to “get a grip.”
“The president has a tendency to say things that seem threatening to people… he really ought to get a grip and be a little more presidential,” she said.
The comment was in response to Trump's tweet warning: "Shifty Adam Schiff is a CORRUPT POLITICIAN, and probably a very sick man. He has not paid the price, yet, for what he has done to our Country!"
Lofgren also admitted House Democrats gave in to Trump’s stonewalling of witnesses by not pursuing subpoenas in court in their impeachment inquiry.
“I guess in that sense we did [surrender] because if we had waited for three or four years the election would be over,” she said, referring to how long the move would likely be hung up in court. “The issue would be almost moot.”
