Sen. Kelly Loeffler, one of the two Republican senators vying in runoff races that could determine which party controls the Senate, said Friday that she believes the state must take a bipartisan look at signatures that were cast on absentee ballots in the November race.
"Georgians deserve to know, look, they went to the polls, they waited in line, they researched their candidates, they made their voices heard," the Georgia Republican said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "We need to make sure that's taken care of right away because everything is on the line on Jan. 5, not just in Georiga but the entire country."
Loeffler said she raised concerns after last January's election, "where a thousand votes, a thousand people voted twice."
She has also called for Georgia Secretary of State Ben Raffensperger to step down and said Friday the state needs to have control over its elections and someone has to be accountable.
"The buck stops with the secretary of state and we need to make sure that Georgians trust the process," said Loeffler.
Meanwhile, Loeffler said she and fellow Republican Sen. David Perdue, also running in the runoff races, need voters to turn out.
"Absentee ballots have gone out starting Wednesday for our Jan. 5 runoff, so Georgians have to trust the process and know that only legal votes will be counted," she said.
She also slammed her Democrat challenger, Rev. Raphael Warnock, as a "radical."
"He called police officers, gangsters, thugs, and a threat to our children," said Loeffler. "When I asked him to apologize in our debate, he declined to do that. He said you can't serve in the military and serve God. He's made anti-Israel comments, he called Israel an apartheid state. That is not only wrong for Georgia, but it's also wrong for America. I think Georgians are going to hold him accountable for his words."
