Hillary Clinton has an overwhelming advantage — by a three-to-one margin — over presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, a
Fox News Latino poll released Friday shows.
Here's the breakdown of support among registered Latino voters:
- Clinton: 62 percent
- Trump: 23 percent
Yet while the poll shows Latino voters prefer Clinton over Trump on important issues, they have an unfavorable view of both, according to the survey.
Just 56 percent of Latino voters have a favorable view of Clinton while 41 percent have an unfavorable opinion; 23 percent have a positive opinion of Trump while 74 percent hold an unfavorable view, the poll shows.
A record 27 million Latinos registered to vote in November,
Fox News Latino notes.
"If I were a candidate running for president I'd keep my eye on Latino voters because they can really show up this year," Joe Trippi, a political strategist and frequent Fox News Channel contributor, tells Fox News Latino.
"Both candidates need to communicate and make inroads with any group that is setting records like they are."
In other findings, the poll found:
- About 72 percent of Latino voters believe Trump is running for president for himself and not for his country; 42 percent believe that about Clinton.
- 62 percent of Hispanics would still vote for a candidate whose stance immigration differs from their own, compared with 29 percent who said a divergence on immigration is a deal-breaker.
The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
