With the Democratic presidential primary field whittling down to a handful of candidates, the Latino Victory Fund (LVF) is conducting interviews to weigh who it will endorse now that Julian Castro is out of the race, according to The Hill.
"Members of the Latino Victory Fund board have been engaging in serious and thorough conversations with Democratic presidential contenders," an LVF official told The Hill.
"So far, they've discussed some of the most pressing issues affecting the Latino community like healthcare, the economy, immigration, Puerto Rico, white supremacy, amongst others, with Vice President Joe Biden and former Mayor Pete Buttigieg. We're eager to continue the conversation with the rest of the Democratic field."
Sens. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., and Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., are next in the pecking order.
The LVF endorsement, which had been given to Castro, is expected to come before March 3's Super Tuesday primaries, which include California and Texas, two states with a large amount of latino voters.
"Latino voters will play such a critical role in the Democratic primary and in the general election – that's why we want to ensure that all the candidates are centering Latino voters in their respective agendas," the LVF official told The Hill.
